WARNING: This Book Has Triggers!

This is Ms. Davenport's debut novel. The premise of the story is good. It takes a special man to stand by his woman and watch her go through this situation. Jamie did everything right. Very well done. I liked that none of the characters seemed immature. Having said that, I skimmed most of the first 40% of this book because the story seemed to drag there. The story read very robotically and was redundant at times. Once the tragedy hit, the story's pace picked up, and I read the remainder. I'm looking forward to what Ms. Davenport does next.

This story was a wonderful friends to lovers installment! Cami & Jamie's affection for each other leaps off the page. There is a tragedy in this story, and it was written so well, so thoroughly. That part of the story ripped out my heart. But it was written SO WELL! I know, I said that already. The level of emotion thru the whole story was just top notch, and while some of the back & forth annoyed me (a couple of moments had me yelling, "Seriously, how can you not KNOW at this point?!), I still enjoyed the story a lot!! Looking forward to reading Linc & Morgan's story. )
Unspoken Words is the debut book for this author. It is the first book in the Unspoken Love Series.

I don't think I can say enough about this book. I was sucked into the story from the very beginning (Love when a book can do that!). Life long friend finally realize their depth of love and attraction for each other.)

When tragedy strikes the group of friends in this book all band together. Cami proved just how tough she was.

This book had my emotions all over the place. I was excited for their love becoming reality, I was hyperventilating and crying when Cami was being assaulted. I cheered when Jamie beat her attacker.

This is an amazingly written book. Bravo to the author for touching a very tough topic of Rape.

I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in this series.
Heather has outdone herself with this debut novel. She had me sucked in from the very beginning and I couldn't put this book down. We not only get a great couple with an unspeakable connection but we find ourselves a new group of friends that have a special bond. Heather makes you feel like you are part of that group enjoying the fun and not sitting back on the sidelines just watching it play out. But when they are hurting and sad you are right there with them, experiencing it all.

Cami is such a strong independent woman, working across the country from her family and friends. She has the respect of her colleagues. But she has decided that there is one major thing missing in her life and it is fine time she did something about that. That something is scarier than s*** as she could loose the one person that she values most. Can they cross that line and still have that closeness they always have had?

Life it pretty damn good for Jamie, his band is doing great, his company he runs with his best friend is booming and busy. What more could a man ask for? He has come to realize that it would be so much better if he had a special someone to share these great things with. Can he put himself out there and risk it all?

Can they all move past that night? How can they heal and find their way back to what they had? Is their love strong enough?

I can't wait to see what happens next in this series. I will be stalking to see when book 2 comes out.
I’d heard great things about this book from an author I love. I’d been hesitant to pick it up because the blurb didn’t appeal to me. It seemed too cutesy and sweet for my personal preferences. The cover also screamed ‘Beach Read’ to me, and those types of lighter fair just aren’t my cup of tea. Eventually, I picked up the book when it was on a free promo, and I’m glad I did. The cover and blurb don’t do the serious tone or heavy themes in the book justice.

Unspoken Words is the first book in H.P. Davenport’s Unspoken Love series. The story is complete and can be read as a standalone if you don’t want to continue the series. The secondary characters are pretty endearing, so I have a feeling after you read one, you’ll want to continue with the others. The book is written in dual first person POV, by Camryn and Jamie.

Unspoken Words is a best friends to lovers romance with a heavy layer of trauma added in to push the characters into a place where they had to find their inner strength. I loved how Ms. Davenport used such a tragic situation to move her characters forward and see the truth of what they wanted and needed from one another. She relayed the event and its aftermath in a way that felt real. I appreciated that Camryn’s struggle and recovery was heavily covered in the book.

I have a couple of wishes for this book. The first, it needs to be re-edited. There were a lot of minor editing issues – typos, plural/possessive swaps – and a few continuity and echoing instances that need to be addressed. I also wish the first few chapters were more solid, I can’t imagine how hard it is to set the tone for a new book (or series), but the beginning of this book felt awkward and forced.

This is the first H.P. Davenport book I’ve read. Despite the few issues I found with this book, I found her to be a compelling storyteller. She made me feel deeply for her characters, and I want to know more about the secondary characters. I’m sure with time and practice she’ll be a fantastic author, and I hope to have the opportunity to witness her growth as an author.
